SportsHopes Spotlight: September 2, 2015

Exceptional Hercules High School (Hercules, CA) senior and student-athlete, Miss Garvey Buchongo, gave a presentation about her tiny not for profit to attendees at the annual Pacific Association USA Track & Field meeting held in late August at UC Davis and hosted by UC Davis Track & Field. Garvey founded and is developing an organization named The Freedom to Run Project which collects and donates new and lightly used track shoes, gear and clothes to youth in need who want to… participate in track & field. Garvey is a 4.0+ GPA student and competes in varsity and club track & field. She is shown here at the annual meeting with Phil Leake, PA-USATF Officials Vice-Chair. Her mother, Sudan Buchongo, accompanied Garvey. Sudan is the co-founder of the Hercules Running Rebels Youth Club. Outstanding family dedication to community by you both!
