News Bulletin received through CVUSD, Castro Valley, CA – (January 4, 2016) – High school and adult school students who completed grade 12 and all requirements but did not pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) can now receive a high school diploma thanks to a new law that went into effect January 1, 2016.
On October 7, 2015 Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 172 into law. SB 172 suspends the administration of the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) and as of January 1, 2016 requires local educational agencies to grant a diploma of graduation to any student who completed grade twelve in the 2003-2014 school year and has met all applicable graduation requirements other than passing the high school exit examination.
