Long but beautiful day at the San Leandro, CA, Track & Field Invitational for high school student-athletes on Saturday, March 19. Thankful to coaches, parents, officials and community members who go out of their way to volunteer and help sports programs grow (and survive) in our communities. Our youth depend on you. Participating in sports helps our youth build leadership, teamwork and social skills; develop goal-setting, strategic planning, time management and multi-tasking competence; fosters friendships; promotes positive mental, physical and emotional health and well-being; and provides pathways to college, career and self-sufficiency. Thank you (R-L): SportsHopes Board Member and USATF Official, Doris Allen; San Leandro High School Coaches, Turshika Bennett and Anthony Trammell; San Leandro parent, Bernard Johnson; Encinal High School Coach, Juanita Lyons; SportsHopes founder and USATF Official, Jennifer Oliver, and additional volunteers who departed prior to photo being taken at end of meet. Much appreciation for your time, energy, support and passion!
