Exciting day today for Newark Memorial High School’s, Ian Hutchinson, who today visited with the UC Berkeley Track & Field Staff and has committed to be a Golden Bear starting this Fall 2016. Ian and his Dad, Jim Hutchinson, are both very excited, such a great day! Jim will be able to watch his son go and grow in the sport he loves (distance running) which is very special. Ian has trained hard, done a lot of training on his own, maintained excellent grades throughout his high school years and scored high on the SAT test. A few months ago Ian became a new Student-Athlete Mentor for SportsHopes. We are proud of you young man and happy for you, great job! Note – Ian was being recruited by numerous colleges but he took the time to see how things would progress over the course of his senior year of track season to make a final decision. He will run Cross Country as well for Cal. Bright future ahead!
