She’s got goals for her future and it includes both athletics and the arts! Dejah Mixon and her mom, Tanya, met with SportsHopes this week to review Dejah’s high school to college pathway. She’s a senior at Castro Valley High (Class of 2016) and a varsity basketball player on the school team and the East Bay Swag travel/club team. Their plan is for her to stay local at first and attend a community college (there are four close by) and then transfer to a four-year college that… supports both passions, sporty and artsy. As with four-year colleges it is a good idea to research community colleges and see what programs are available that best support one’s pathway. Also as with four-year colleges it is important for community college students to apply for FAFSA (federal aid), Cal Grant (California aid) and if applicable, the BOG fee waiver (California community colleges) depending on financial need. Keep working towards your future young lady, good job, and we are here to help!
